Writing Example:

(Background: For an internship with the wonderful wedding photographer Marissa Kelly, I wrote blog posts for her website that explained and described the weddings that we worked together.)

To say that this couple is super cool is an understatement. Hailey is a lighting designer and Steven is a lighting technician. I mean come on what could be more perfect than this literal perfect match of a team. The two and their creative minds plus their amazing family’s love and support made everything about this cool early fall day wedding absolutely spectacular.

The day started in Chicago when I picked up my new intern, Abbie, up at the train station. This was our first time meeting in person and we non stop chatted, especially emphasizing our shared love for One Direction. After getting chai (me) and matcha (Abbie) lattes at a local coffee shop we made it to the wedding and the day officially began. Walking in, we were filled with the overwhelming welcome and love that filled everyone in the room.  In the words of Abbie, the overall vibes were astronomical. 

The whole day ended up being a surprise after surprise. Hailey and Steven of course did all the lighting for the reception tent and lights all around the property of their family friend’s house where the whole wedding took place - HOW COOL!!! They had several family members who made their day magical by making giant golden lanterns, a spinning ring display plus their wedding bands made by Steven’s uncle, and their wedding “In Sickness and In Health: The World Tour” themed banners. 

Some of my favorite moments of the day were: 

• Hailey’s sweet sister crying ever other moment during the whole day, as well as their whole family first look at Hailey’s amazing jumpsuit (completed with a cape!!!)

• Hailey’s handwritten notes to every single person who RSVP to the wedding

• The moment after they finished their first dance song—Simply the Best covered by Noah Reid (ironically the last song I saw performed live before covid!!)— Then it switched to the Tina Turner version and then when the chorus hit, a BADASS 80s-vibe light show started and all the guests moved the dance party outside where there were more lights lighting up the backyard

The whole day was, in fact, simply the best.
